1st week (check)... phew!!!!

Our first week of school flew by. Janna Moats, who took on the Children at Risk program from Kona, Hawaii came to speak to our students of the over-all introduction to Children at Risk globally. She also heads up the women and children's advocacy program that is soon to move its headquarters from Switzerland to Oregon. Check out what Janna is working on currently at:

It was a pleasure to have her and to gain from her the knowledge and expertise she has gained throughout a process of many years. She had the students thinking and processing through their own giftings and areas of interest in working with children in need. In addition to the students, she is always a wise and useful tool for us as staff as we process with her, ideas and thoughts for our school and how to improve it and apply it to our current student's needs and interests.

The students are all so amazing! They have been struggling greatly in different areas. This is a very challenging school not only emotionally and spiritually, but academically as well. I am proud and cheer them on as they enter into their 2nd week of lecture phase. This 1st week was already so intense and they managed well, despite all of them feeling like they wanted to go home at some point last week or just before they arrived. Many have been physically sick while others have dealt with emotional and family crisis. Nonetheless they are all beginning to share and open up to each other and have already with us as staff. I am honored to see the strength and courage it took for each of them to come and give up their lives for this time. Additionally, I am excited for what they are already working in and where God will lead them in the future. Please pray with me as we journey together and for their sanity ;-) and health throughout the school!... as well as myne... lots of responsibility and challenges... God is faithful!
